The first stage of production begins immediately after an order is placed. Because of this, we’re unable to make changes once an order has been submitted. Please carefully review the design, size, material, crop, quantity, and shipping information before completing checkout. If you have any questions before ordering, please contact us here, we’re always happy to help!

Our photography backdrops are made to order based on the exact design, size, and material selected. Due to the custom nature of our products and the multiple stages involved in production, we cannot guarantee an exact completion or shipping date. High seasonal demand, large sales, increased order volume, and unexpected production delays may occasionally extend processing times.

Below are our average processing times by material. Please note that these timeframes are estimates, not guarantees. Processing times may be shorter or longer than the averages listed, depending on the material selected and our current order volume.

Processing time for royal fleece and fleece: The average processing time is 4-6 business days. During our busy holiday season (July - Jan.) our average processing time is 6-10 business days.  

Processing time for dream fabric: The average processing time is 4-6 business days. During our busy holiday season (July - Jan.) our average processing time is 7-10 business days. 

Processing time for poly paper and vinyl: Our average processing time for poly paper is 2 - 4 business days. During the busier holiday season (Aug. - Jan.), our process time averages 4-6 business days. SHIPPING: *** Poly paper and vinyl ship in oversized tubes. For orders going to the East Coast and Midwest, the average shipping time is 2–4 weeks. Tracking often shows delays or no updates for several days, this is normal. To avoid longer transit times, we recommend ordering fabric/fleece materials or upgrading to USPS Priority Mail. Please note that tubes cannot be shipped via UPS ***

Please remember that processing time is separate from shipping transit time. We understand that you would like to receive your order as quickly as possible, and our production team works hard to complete and ship every order promptly.

Unless Rush Processing is purchased, orders are processed in the order they are received, regardless of the shipping method selected. Choosing an expedited shipping service does not shorten production time or move an order ahead in the production line. It only reduces the carrier’s transit time after the order has completed production and shipped.

Processing times are averages and may vary based on order volume. During our busy season, during a large sale, or immediately following a large sale, processing may extend beyond the average timeframe.

EXPEDITED SHIPPING FOR FLOOR MATS

Please do not select an expedited shipping method at checkout when ordering a floor mat. If you need expedited shipping for a floor mat, please contact us before placing your order so we can review the available options and create an accurate invoice.

Floor mats, Poly Paper, vinyl, and fabric backdrops may require different packaging and may ship separately. For example, if your order includes a floor mat and a Poly Paper backdrop, the items will ship in separate packages and may have separate tracking numbers and delivery dates.

MADE-TO-ORDER PRODUCTS & FINAL SALES

Because our backdrops are made to order in the exact design, material, size, crop, orientation, and quantity selected, all sales are final except as outlined in our Return Policy.

Before completing checkout, please carefully review:

The amount of the design shown may vary by size. Some sizes may be cropped along the top, bottom, or sides to fit the selected dimensions.

Once an order has entered production, it cannot be canceled or changed. Customer ordering errors are not eligible for a refund or traditional exchange. In certain situations, we may offer a one-time courtesy reprint of the same design in another size or material, as explained in our Return Policy.

By placing an order, you acknowledge and agree to our current processing times, Return Policy, Shipping Policy, and Terms & Conditions.

ORDER ACCEPTANCE, PRICING & LISTING ERRORS

We make every effort to ensure that all product descriptions, sizes, materials, variants, discounts, and prices are accurate. However, typographical, technical, administrative, and system errors may occasionally occur.

An automated order confirmation acknowledges that we have received your order, but it does not constitute final acceptance or confirm that the order has entered production.

HSD Backdrops reserves the right to review, place on hold, decline, or cancel an order before shipment for reasons including:

• Pricing or listing errors
• Incorrect variant pricing
• Technical or system errors
• Suspected fraud or unauthorized payment activity
• Production or material limitations
• Shipping restrictions
• Violations of our store policies

This applies even if an automated order confirmation has been sent or payment has been processed.

If an order is canceled because of a pricing, listing, or technical error, all amounts paid for the canceled item or order will be refunded to the original payment method. We will never charge the corrected price without the customer’s authorization.

Below is a description and close up photos of each of the different backdrop materials that we offer.

All of our backdrops are printed in the U.S.A.

POLY PAPER:  Poly Paper is a lightweight, synthetic coated paper that is tear-resistant and offers an affordable backdrop option. It is much lighter than vinyl or fabric and can be attached to a backdrop stand with clamps or secured to a wall with blue painter’s tape.

Poly Paper has a matte, glare-free finish and produces a bright, vibrant print. Each Poly Paper backdrop includes a small white border around the printed design, typically approximately ¼ inch. This border is included within the listed dimensions of the backdrop. When pairing a backdrop and floor, the border can usually be tucked underneath the floor portion so it is not visible in photographs.

Poly Paper may be used as a floor drop, but it must be handled carefully. Sliding props across the surface, walking on it, or placing rough objects on it may cause scratches, scuffs, footprints, or creases. Poly Paper is not recommended for cake smash sessions because it cannot be wiped clean and liquids or frosting may permanently damage the surface.

Care Instructions:

• Store Poly Paper rolled when not in use, preferably inside the original shipping tube.
• Do not fold the backdrop.
• Do not wash or wipe the surface with water, cleaning products, or other liquids.
• Lift and place props rather than dragging them across the backdrop.
• Avoid walking directly on the printed surface whenever possible.

Poly Paper may develop a slight wave or mild warping during the printing process or while hanging or lying flat. This is a normal characteristic of the material and is not considered a defect.

Please note: Due to the increased risk of damage to oversized shipping tubes during international transit, Poly Paper backdrops are available for shipping within the United States only.

Royal Fleece: Royal Fleece is a beautiful, budget-friendly alternative to Dream Fabric and our standard Fleece. It is softer than our other fleece option and has a slight stretch, allowing it to be gently pulled taut for a smooth appearance.

The edges are laser cut to help prevent fraying. Royal Fleece does not include hemming or a pole pocket, which helps us keep production costs lower and pass those savings on to our customers. It can be easily attached to a backdrop stand using clamps.

Although Royal Fleece is one of our more affordable materials, it photographs just as beautifully as our higher-priced options.

Please note: Listed sizes are approximate. The material is measured before printing and may shrink slightly during the printing process.

DREAM FABRIC: Our Dream Fabric backdrops hang and photograph like a dream! This material is made from 100% polyester specifically intended for photography backdrops and has a slight stretch, allowing it to be gently pulled taut for a smooth, professional appearance.

Dream Fabric backdrops measuring 8' x 6' and larger include a sewn pole pocket along the top for easy hanging on a backdrop stand. Smaller sizes, including 8' x 5', 7' x 5', 6' x 5', and 5' x 5', are laser cut and do not include a pole pocket.

Please keep in mind that the sewn pole pocket uses approximately 2–3 inches of the total backdrop height. Dream Fabric is an excellent choice for detailed scenes and room designs that look best when the material is pulled tight.

This material arrives folded. To remove fold lines or wrinkles, place it in the dryer on low heat for approximately 5–10 minutes, or gently use a handheld steamer.

FLEECE: Our Fleece backdrops feature the printed design on the front with a white reverse side. The material has a matte, glare-free finish and is naturally wrinkle-resistant, allowing most backdrops to be hung and photographed right away.

Fleece backdrops do not include a pole pocket and can be attached to a backdrop stand using clamps. Each backdrop is hemmed on all four sides, and the weight of the material allows it to hang beautifully.

If hard creases develop, place the backdrop in the dryer on low heat for approximately 10 minutes or gently use a handheld steamer. Fleece backdrops may be stored folded when not in use.

Please note: Listed sizes are approximate and reflect the dimensions of the material before printing and hemming. Our 80" x 60" Fleece backdrops are made from a slightly lighter-weight fleece material than our other Fleece sizes.

VINYL: 

Our matte vinyl backdrops are made with a durable fabric core coated with a thin layer of vinyl. This high-quality, heavy-duty material works well as either a backdrop or floor drop and is a popular choice for cake smashes and other messy sessions because it can be gently wiped clean.

Although the material has a matte finish, vinyl is not completely glare-free. Darker designs may show some sheen where studio lights reflect off the printed surface, so lighting placement and angles may need to be adjusted. If even minimal sheen is a concern, we recommend choosing Poly Paper or Canvas instead. Many customers still prefer vinyl because of its durability and easy-care surface. Any unwanted highlights can also be reduced during editing by gently darkening the brighter areas.

Care Instructions:

• Store the backdrop rolled when not in use, preferably inside the original shipping tube.
• Wipe gently with a damp cloth only. Do not use household cleaners or chemicals.
• Vinyl may be used for cake smash sessions, but frosting, food coloring, and liquids can still stain the printed surface.
• Test frosting or other messy materials on a small corner of the backdrop before the session.
• Clean spills promptly and avoid allowing liquids to sit on the surface.

FLEECE, DREAM FABRIC & ROYAL FLEECE SHIPPING: Fabric and fleece backdrops may ship separately from Poly Paper, vinyl, and floor mats because these products require different packaging. If your order contains multiple materials, you may receive separate packages, tracking numbers, and delivery dates.

HANGING EXTRA-LARGE FABRIC BACKDROPS: A helpful way to secure an extra-large fabric backdrop is to allow a small amount of the material to extend onto the floor, then fold the excess back toward the wall. Place a clean 2" x 4" piece of wood behind the backdrop and on top of the folded material to add weight and help hold it in place. Adjust the fabric and gently pull it taut as needed.

You may also secure the corners to the floor with tape or pin the backdrop directly to a wall. If you order a sweep with a continuous backdrop-and-floor portion, placing a floor mat underneath the floor section can help prevent the fabric from shifting.

AVOIDING WRINKLES, CREASES & SCRATCHES: Poly Paper and vinyl are durable and resistant to tearing, but they are still printed surfaces that must be handled carefully. They can be scratched, scuffed, creased, or permanently marked if props are dragged across them or if they are stored improperly.

To help prevent damage:

• Store Poly Paper and vinyl backdrops rolled inside their original shipping tubes whenever possible.
• Never fold Poly Paper or vinyl.
• If the original tube is unavailable, roll the backdrop tightly and store it horizontally rather than standing it upright.
• The opening in the center of the roll should remain round. If it becomes oval-shaped, the backdrop is not rolled tightly enough and may begin to flatten or crease.
• When using the backdrop as a floor, lift and place props instead of dragging them across the printed surface.
• Avoid walking directly on Poly Paper, as shoes may leave footprints, scuffs, or scratches.

VIEWING: Large format prints are intended to be used at a distance and are not meant to be viewed up close. Photography backdrops are designed to be in the depth of field, approximately 4-5 feet away in typical. 

Shipping Notice

Shipping times are beyond our control, and we’re unable to accept returns, exchanges, or issue refunds due to carrier delays.

Poly Paper and Vinyl backdrops ship in oversized tubes, which often take longer in transit and are more prone to delays. For orders shipping to the East Coast or Midwest, the average delivery time is 2–4 weeks for poly paper/vinyl with ground shipping. It’s also normal for tracking updates to pause for several days during transit.

To help avoid extended shipping times, we recommend choosing fabric or fleece materials or upgrading to USPS Priority Mail at checkout. Please note that tubes cannot be shipped via UPS.

Order early to ensure timely delivery.

Processing & Shipping Information

Our photo backdrops are made-to-order based on the design, size, and material selected by the customer. Processing times vary depending on the chosen material and the current volume of orders.

If you need your order rush processed, please reach out to us about adding rush processing before placing your order. Please note that rush processing shortens production time only — it does not include shipping time.

For your convenience, we offer several shipping options through UPS and USPS:

• Standard/Ground Shipping: Typically delivered within 2–7 business days.

• USPS Priority Mail: Typically delivered within 3–4 business days for fleece/fabric and 5–7 business days for poly paper and vinyl, and prioritized by USPS. However, delivery times are not guaranteed and are non-refundable per USPS policy.

Shipping timeframes vary depending on the delivery location and the shipping method selected at checkout.

Shipping Upgrades: UPS 2nd Day

Please note that UPS does not consider Saturday a business day for 2nd Day Air or Next Day Air Saver services. We do not offer guaranteed Saturday delivery or Early AM delivery options, as these services require additional fees and are only available for select locations. We are not shipping UPS Next Day Air at this time.

Changing Shipping Methods

If you need to upgrade your shipping method to an expedited option after placing your order, we’ll do our best to accommodate the request. However, we cannot guarantee that we’ll be able to intercept the package or complete the upgrade once the order has entered production or shipment processing.

Shipping Substitutions

We do our best to provide accurate shipping rates, but occasionally the quoted amount may differ from the actual cost. If the shipping fee paid at checkout does not cover the selected shipping method, we may choose an alternative carrier or service level to prevent delays, or an invoice will be sent for the difference if no comparable option is available.

If you need your order by a specific date and prefer no substitutions, please contact us right away. In those cases, an invoice will be sent for any shipping shortage.

Refused Packages & UPS Access Points

HSD Backdrops is not responsible for refused packages. If a package is refused or returned to us, shipping fees are non-refundable, and the customer is responsible for the cost to reship the package.

Please ensure your shipping address is complete and accurate at checkout. We are also not responsible for packages shipped to UPS Access Points or incomplete addresses (such as missing suite numbers or store names at shopping centers). If a package is returned due to an incomplete or Access Point address, the customer will be responsible for the reshipment fee.

International Shipping

Please note that your order total does not include customs fees, import duties, or taxes. These fees are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in the shipping total at checkout.

If a package is refused or returned due to unpaid customs or duties, the customer will be responsible for all related fees, including return shipping costs. No refunds will be issued for the order or original shipping charges.

Shipping Quotes

All shipping quotes are estimates and may not always reflect the final shipping cost. Actual rates are determined once the order is packaged, weighed, and processed for shipment.

If the final shipping cost is less than the quoted amount, a refund will be issued for the difference.
If the actual cost is higher than the quoted amount, an invoice will be sent for the remaining balance prior to shipment.

Bulk Orders & Shipping Adjustments

Bulk orders or large quantity purchases may need to ship in multiple boxes due to size and weight restrictions.
Our website’s shipping calculator is based on combined shipping for a single package, so it does not automatically account for multiple-box shipments.

If the actual shipping cost is higher than the amount paid at checkout, an invoice will be sent for additional shipping fees before the order goes into production.
Your order will not move forward until the balance is paid in full.

Whenever the shipping amount paid is short, whether for bulk orders or individual packages, we will notify you and send an invoice for the difference prior to shipment.

Important Notes

• HSD Backdrops is not responsible for delayed or stolen packages and will not refund orders or shipping if your delivery does not arrive when expected.

• Please do not schedule shoots based on the estimated delivery date shown in tracking, as this date is not guaranteed.

• Expedited shipping does not speed up processing time — only the transit time once the order ships.

• Once your order has shipped, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking details.

UPS does not deliver to P.O. Boxes. If selecting UPS, please use a physical address.

Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and some other locations may be billed for additional shipping costs.

Q: My backdrop arrived damaged. What can I do?

A: If you receive a damaged product YOU MUST CONTACT US WITHIN 48 HOURS OF RECEIPT. We will need photos of the damage to the shipping tube and damage to the backdrop. These photos are required for us to file a claim. After we have received the photos of the damage we will provide you with instructions on to proceed.  

Q: My package appears to be lost. What can I do? 

A: 

If your package has not arrived within 15 days of the ship date, please reach out to us. In most cases, packages are simply delayed; however, we can begin a missing package search after 15 days for U.S. orders. Please note that our insurance provider will not review a missing package claim until 15 days have passed from the shipment date.

For international orders, a missing package claim can be filed after 25+ days from the ship date.

Replacement backdrops will not be sent until a missing package claim has been filed and approved. Due to frequent transit delays with oversized tubes (poly paper and vinyl), replacements for these materials will not be issued until at least 25+ days have passed from the ship date.

If your package is believed to be lost in transit, you must contact us within 45 days of the shipment date. We have a limited window to file a claim with the carrier. Once that window has expired, we are no longer able to file a claim, send a replacement, or issue a refund for a missing package.
