Fleece is a heavier-weight photography backdrop that is easy to work with.

Poly Paper backdrops are printed on a smooth, paper-based material.

• Provides crisp printed detail

• Popular with photographers who attach backdrops directly to a wall
• Available only in smaller sizes, such as 7' × 5' and 8' × 5'
• Ships rolled in an oversized shipping tube

Vinyl is another available photography backdrop option. Its finish, handling, care, and hanging requirements differ from our fabric, fleece, and paper-based materials.

Dream Fabric backdrops measuring 8' × 6' and larger include a sewn pole pocket. The crossbar of your backdrop stand can slide through the pole pocket.

All other backdrops may be attached to a backdrop stand using clamps. If your stand did not include clamps, they can usually be purchased inexpensively from a hardware store.

Backdrops may also be attached directly to a wall using thumbtacks or appropriate tape. Tape is commonly used for Poly Paper backdrops. Always choose a hanging method suitable for both the backdrop material and mounting surface.

Fabric and fleece backdrops ship folded and may have fold lines when first opened. Care, cleaning, storage, and wrinkle-removal methods vary by material. A care method that is appropriate for one material may not be suitable for another.

Each material may use different inks, printers, coatings, or production processes. Because of these variables, the same design printed on two different materials will not be an exact color match.

If you plan to pair the same design as a backdrop and floor, we strongly recommend ordering both pieces:

• In the same material
• At the same time
• On the same order

This provides the closest possible color match. The scale and crop of the artwork may still vary when different sizes are selected.

We also cannot guarantee an exact match between orders placed at different times. Printer calibration, ink, material batches, production methods, and technology may change. Designs may also be updated, corrected, or enhanced after their original release.

Color names such as white, ivory, cream, beige, blush, blue, and green are broad descriptive terms, not standardized color formulas.

For example, white may be stark white, cool white, warm white, soft white, or off-white. Ivory may range from a very light cream to champagne, beige, peach, or blush-toned ivory.

A backdrop described as ivory and a dress, chair, balloon, cake stand, or prop also described as ivory may still be noticeably different shades. The same applies to other color names.

Screen brightness, display calibration, room lighting, camera settings, white balance, editing, ink, and the selected backdrop material can all affect how colors appear.

We cannot guarantee an exact color match to clothing, props, décor, paint colors, furniture, flooring, or other products. If coordinating colors are especially important, please contact us before ordering. We are happy to describe a design’s general undertones, but an exact match cannot be guaranteed.

Measure the complete area where the backdrop will be used, including:

• Available wall width
• Ceiling height
• Backdrop stand width and height
• Floor space needed for a sweep
• Camera-to-subject distance
• Space required for subjects and physical props

Your backdrop should generally be wider than the total area occupied by your subjects and props. Allow additional width if you want more surrounding artwork visible or greater flexibility when posing.

For full-body portraits that show the subject’s feet and floor, choose either:

• A backdrop sweep, such as 8' × 12', 9' × 14', or 10' × 15'; or
• A standard backdrop paired with a coordinating floor drop

Waist-up portraits generally allow more flexibility with smaller backdrop sizes.

Not always. Backdrop sizes have different dimensions and aspect ratios, so each design may need to be adjusted to fit the selected size.

For example, simply cropping a 10' × 8' landscape design into an 8' × 8' square could remove important details from the sides. Instead, our design team may reposition, resize, or rework individual elements to preserve the overall composition.

Specialty sizes, including square backdrops and sweeps, often require additional design work. A design may be released before examples of every available size have been created. In some cases, the layout for a particular size may not be completed until that size is ordered for the first time.

If your preferred size is not pictured, please contact us before ordering to request an available preview. Customers who want to see the exact layout are responsible for requesting and approving the preview before ordering.

If a preview is not requested, HSD Backdrops will determine the crop, composition, scale, and placement of the artwork at our discretion. For sweeps, the coordinating floor and wall-to-floor transition will also be selected at our discretion.

Expected layout differences between sizes are not considered printing or production defects. Crop approvals and layout changes cannot be requested after an order has entered production.

In-use photographs are provided for inspiration and to show how a design may look when photographed, styled, and used in a completed session. They are not intended to represent the exact crop or scale of every available size.

Our backdrops are offered in more than 10 sizes and multiple materials. The crop, spacing, and apparent size of trees, furniture, and other design elements on a 12' × 8' backdrop may differ significantly from those on a narrower backdrop, square backdrop, or sweep.

Lighting, lens choice, camera settings, editing, screen displays, styling, and the selected material may also affect how a backdrop appears in a finished photograph.

No. Product images and in-use photographs may include physical furniture, props, flooring, wardrobe, lighting, and seasonal decorations for styling inspiration.

Your order includes only the printed backdrop or floor product in the size and material selected on the listing. People, clothing, furniture, and physical décor shown in the photographs are not included.

Decorative objects that are part of the digital artwork will be printed on the backdrop. Please review the unstyled artwork shown on the product listing to see what is included in the printed design.

Backdrop dimensions are measured before printing and finishing. The finished product may measure slightly smaller because of hemming, sewing, material shrinkage, or the addition of a pole pocket.

Dream Fabric backdrops measuring 8' × 6' and larger include a sewn pole pocket, which uses a small portion of the overall material height.

For example, a backdrop listed as 10' × 8' may measure slightly under those dimensions after printing and finishing. All listed backdrop measurements should be considered approximate.

No. Only sizes specifically identified as sweeps include a built-in printed floor portion.

Standard backdrop sizes require a separate floor drop when printed floor coverage is needed. For example, a 12' × 8' landscape backdrop is 12 feet wide and 8 feet tall and does not include a floor.

A backdrop sweep may be a good choice for:

• Full-body portraits
• Photographers who want a coordinated wall-to-floor design
• Studios that do not want to purchase a backdrop and floor separately
• Sessions requiring a smooth transition between the wall and floor portions

These timeframes are averages, not guarantees. Production may extend beyond the average during peak season, a large sale, or immediately following a large sale.

Business days are Monday through Friday and exclude major U.S. holidays.

Processing time is the time required to create, finish, inspect, and prepare your backdrop for shipment.

Shipping transit time begins after production is complete and the carrier receives the package.

Choosing an expedited shipping method does not shorten production or move an order ahead in the production line. It only reduces the carrier’s estimated transit time after the order ships.

Production begins quickly after an order is placed. Changes and cancellations cannot be made after an order has entered production.

Poly Paper and vinyl backdrops ship rolled in oversized tubes. Orders traveling to the East Coast or Midwest may take approximately two or more weeks in transit, and tracking updates may be delayed. This is common with oversized tube shipments.

To avoid longer tube transit times, consider selecting a fabric or fleece material or upgrading to USPS Priority Mail when available.

Oversized tubes cannot be shipped through UPS.

Fabric backdrops may be shipped internationally. Poly Paper backdrops and floor mats are available for shipping only within the United States.

To calculate international shipping costs, we need the complete shipping address and intended order, including the design, size, material, and quantity of each backdrop.

Because our backdrops are made to order, all sales are final except as specifically outlined in our Return Policy.

Christmas is the busiest season for many photographers. Demand often begins in late summer, and many photographers purchase Christmas backdrops months in advance.

Recommended ordering: Summer or as early as possible before your scheduled Christmas sessions.

Royal Fleece is a popular material for cake smash photography because it absorbs light well, minimizes glare, and creates a soft, professional appearance under studio lighting.

Poly Paper is another popular choice for photographers who prefer to attach their backdrop directly to a wall.

If a backdrop will be used on the floor during a cake smash, we recommend placing non-glare plexiglass over it to help protect the printed surface from frosting, liquids, stains, and damage.

We make every effort to ensure that all product, size, material, variant, discount, and shipping prices are accurate. However, typographical, technical, administrative, and system errors may occasionally occur.

HSD Backdrops reserves the right to correct a pricing or listing error and cancel an affected order before shipment, including after an automated order confirmation has been sent or payment has been processed.

If an order is canceled because of a pricing, listing, or technical error, all amounts paid for the canceled item or order will be refunded to the original payment method. We will not charge the corrected price without the customer’s authorization.
