Q: Where do I enter my coupon code?

A: After you add products to your cart, click "checkout". On the next page, in the top right corner, there will be an option to enter a coupon code. Enter your coupon code and click "Apply". **Coupon codes are not valid during sales when prices are already reduced on our website.


Q: How do your sizes work?

A: An 5'W x 8'H (5x8) design is 5 feet wide and 8 feet tall (portrait crop). An 8'W x 5'H (8x5) design is 8 feet wide and 5 feet tall (landscape crop). Backdrops may have a thin white border around the design, depending on the material ordered, and is part of the size of the backdrop. Please allow approximately 1/8 of an inch, give or take. The crop of the design will vary, depending on the size ordered, and may be cropped differently than shown in the example(s) on our website. Designs are cropped at our discretion. 


Q: What are your backdrops made of?

FABRIC: Our soft knit fabric backdrops are 100% GLARE FREE, thick (yet still pretty light weight), and is VERY vibrant! No light, dull fabric prints here! Fabric is great for storing, simply toss it aside or fold. Fabric backdrops will arrive folded or rolled, depending on the order. Just toss it in the dryer on low heat, steam or hang until the light fold creases fall out. You can also pull it tight and clamp it to the backdrop stand to pull the fold wrinkles out. The fabric will have a small white border around it, simply tuck the white part under the floor drop to hide it. Our fabric is a knitted material (not fleece). We tested several different fabrics and chose this material because it has the most vibrant print. 

PROS: 100% GLARE FREE, vibrant print, hangs beautifully, can be stored folded.
CONS: Fabric can be difficult to use as a floor drop. 


CANVAS: Our canvas backdrops are made of a strong cloth (similar to canvas prints), with a very vibrant print and are 100% GLARE FREE. Canvas works great as a backdrop as well as a floor drop. Canvas photographs and hangs beautifully. It weighs a little less than vinyl and should not be folded or washed. It can be hung as a backdrop using clamps or laid on the floor (hard, flat surface) and used as a floor drop. We do not recommend using a canvas floor for cake smashes as it cannot be wiped clean. We recommend storing them rolled inside the shipping tube when not in use. Canvas backdrops will have a small white border around the design (about a quarter of an inch) and is included in the size of the design. The backdrop can be tucked under the floor drop and the white border is not noticeable.

CONS: More expensive than vinyl and poly paper, cannot be wiped clean

POLY PAPER: Poly Paper is a synthetic, coated paper that is very tough to tear and is an inexpensive option. It's much lighter weight than vinyl and canvas, so it ships cheaper and is easy to hang. It can be hung as a backdrop using clamps or laid on the floor (hard, flat surface) and used as a floor drop. You must be careful when using it as a floor drop so that you do not scratch or crease it. Unlike vinyl, Poly Paper is not suggested for cake smashes as it cannot be easily wiped clean. Poly Paper is 100% GLARE FREE. We recommend storing then rolled inside the shipping tube when not in use. Poly paper backdrops will have a small white border around the design (about a quarter of an inch) and is included in the size of the design. The backdrop can be tucked under the floor drop and the white border is not noticeable.

PROS: Inexpensive, light weight, ships cheaper than vinyl and canvas, 100% GLARE FREE.
CONS: They can scratch when being used as a floor drop and must be handled with care to prevent creasing. Cannot be wiped clean light vinyl.

VINYL: Our matte vinyl backdrops are constructed of fabric hidden between a thin layer vinyl. It is a high quality, heavy duty vinyl. VInyl backdrops are very durable and work well as a backdrop or floor drop. They can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, making them great for cake smashes or messy shoots. The downside to vinyl is that the lighting does need to be adjusted when photographing dark backdrops because the ink can cause a slight sheen. If even minimal sheen is a concern for you we recommend going with Poly Paper or Canvas.

PROS: Inexpensive, the most durable for floor drops, can be wiped clean with a damp cloth
CONS: Backdrops can have a slight sheen if the proper lighting or photo editing techniques are not used, especially with darker drops. Vinyl does not print as true to color as poly paper and canvas.

The backdrops are tear resistant, however, they are not indestructible so it is very important to take care of your drops so they last for years. We recommend storing your drops rolled inside the shipping tubes to avoid creases, scratches or damage. Backdrops should not be laid on the floor with weight on top of them. If not stored in the tube, vinyl and canvas should be rolled very tightly and laid on the floor, to avoid flattening. The center of the backdrops should be a circle when rolled (not an oval). If you see an oval in the center, it is not rolled tight enough.


Q: How are your backdrops printed?

A: Our Backdrops/Floordrops are printed using state-of-the-art printer and eco-friendly inks. 


Q: How can I hang my backdrops?

A: Backdrops can be hung with clamps onto a backdrop stand. We found backdrops stands as low as $30 on Ebay. Clamps can be purchased inexpensively at a hardware store. Using thumbtacks or tape on a wall is another option.


Q: Do you do custom designs?

A: We are not accepting custom design orders at this time.


Q: When will my product be shipped?

A: All of our backdrops are made-to-order. Orders are processed within 7 business days (typically 2 - 5 business days). Extra large fabric backdrops are typically processed within 5 - 9 business days. Please allow extra time for processing during or just after a large sale (up to 14 business days to be safe, but usually ships sooner). If you need your order Rush Processed, please add this listing to your cart here. This does NOT include shipping time. Shipping time varies based on delivery location and shipping method chosen during check out. Standard/Ground shipping is typically 2-9 business days. Please note that USPS Priority Mail 2-Day or 3-Day puts your package as a priority but 2 or 3 day delivery is not guaranteed and is non-refundable per USPS. You can read more about USPS Priority Mail here. We try our hardest to process orders very quickly, but shipping time is out of our hands. HSD Backdrops is not responsible for delayed shipping and will not refund shipping or orders if your delivery does not arrive when expected.  Because our packages are considered an oversized package, UPS and USPS do not offer refunds for shipping delays, even for "guaranteed shipping". Please be sure to select USPS Priority Mail Express 2-Day if you would like a guaranteed 2 day delivery. *Please note: priority shipping does not speed up the processing time. When selecting your shipping option please keep in mind that there is a processing time of up to 5 days before your order is shipped. Q: How are your backdrops shipped?

A: Backdrops are shipped rolled inside a heavy duty shipping tube. The end caps are stapled on and tape to prevent the caps from popping off. You will need pliers or a similar tool to open the cap. Please be sure the staples are fully removed before sliding out the backdrops so that they do not get scratched. Fabric backdrops will ship folded or rolled. 


Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: Yes! Please contact us for a shipping quote. We are currently shipping to the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom. International customers, please note that your order total does NOT include any customs fees or duties. These fees are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in your shipping total. If a package is refused, the customer will be charged the customs fees, duties and a return fee. No refunds will be issued for the order or shipping. International customers are responsible for scheduling a delivery day/time. If the package is returned because of unsuccessful delivery attempts, the order and shipping will not be refunded and the customer is liable for shipping costs to resend the package again.


Q: I accidentally sent my package to an old address?

A: If a package is sent to an old address, we recommend that you immediately put in a forwarding address with USPS. If the package does not successfully forwarded to the new address, the customer is responsible for fees to reship the package once it's returned to us.


Q: How do I pay?

A: Currently we are using Paypal to accept payments. You can also use your credit card to pay on the Paypal site. Please be sure that the address on your Paypal address is current. All orders will be shipped to the address on your Paypal account. Items that are reshipped after being returned due to a wrong or undeliverable address will be charged an additional shipping fee. 


Q: What are your business hours?

A: Business hours are M-F from 9 am – 5 pm MST. We are closed major holidays.


Q: I'm ordering two of the same backdrops for a hung background and floor, any advice?  

A: Each material uses different ink and a different printer. Because of all the different variables, the colors will not be identical, if ordering the same design on two different mediums. If you are planning to pair the same design together, we highly recommend ordering both designs in the same material (at the same time) to be sure they're a perfect match. 


Q: My backdrop looks different than the example online:

A: Our backdrops are printed in CMYK color and your monitor is showing you RGB color. The colors you see on the website are intended to be used as a guide as there may be variances in color with different monitor calibrations. Because we cannot control the color reproduction of a customer’s computer monitor, we cannot guarantee that the actual print color will precisely match the example as it appears on your monitor. Grunge/texture/distressing may be found on some designs and is intentional. In-use images are intended to show you the size of the design compared to a subject. They are not intended to be used as a color reference. Colors will vary depending on photographers lighting and post processing. No refunds or returns are given for color differences. The crop of the design will vary, depending on the size ordered, and may be cropped differently than shown on our website. Designs are cropped at our discretion. 


Q: What is your return policy?

A: Because all drops are made-to-order based on the options you select, no cancellations, exchanges or returns will be accepted once your order goes into production. If you receive a damaged product, please contact us right away and we will work with you to resolve the issue. YOU MUST CONTACT US WITHIN 7 DAYS OF RECEIPT. If in the event that we allow an exchange, the the customer is responsible for all shipping charges (return shipping and any new shipping charges) and a 15% stocking fee. 


Q: My backdrop arrived damaged. What can I do?

A: If you receive a damaged product YOU MUST CONTACT US WITHIN 7 DAYS OF RECEIPT. We will need photos of the damage to the shipping tube and damage to the backdrop. These photos are required for us to file a claim. After we have received the photos of the damage, you may receive an affidavit that needs to be signed an returned. Once the images and affidavit are received, a replacement backdrop will be shipped out immediately.  *INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: You MUST file Form 2856 with USPS, and email us a copy, if your order arrives damaged and we will need a copy of that form. Replacement backdrops will be sent for international orders after Form 2856 is sent to us and damage photos are received.


Q: I received the wrong backdrop. What can I do?  

A: We sincerely apologize if this happens. All orders are checked twice before shipping but sometimes there is a mix up. Please check your order as soon as it arrives. If you receive an incorrect design, please email us a photo of the design you received. Once that is received, we will create a new order for the correct design, rush process it and ship it Priority Mail. PLEASE CONTACT US WITHIN 7 DAYS OF RECEIPT.


Q: Can I do a Cake Smash on my backdrop?

A: To avoid any staining, we recommend using a piece of non-glare plexiglass over your backdrop. Vinyl backdrops can be wiped with a damp cloth.


Q: How do I store my backdrop?

A: We recommend storing your drops rolled to avoid creases, scratches or damage. Fabric backdrops can be stored folded.  


Q: Is there a difference between backdrops and floor drops?

A: There is no difference. Backdrops can be used as floor drops and vis versa. 


Q: Can I use your backdrops to create digital backdrops for sale?

A: No. We retain the copyright for all our designs. Our backdrops cannot be used for digital backdrops for sale or to create stock art. Selling digital backdrops, using our backdrops, is a copyright violation.
