HSD Backdrops Copyright & Intellectual Property Notice

Except where otherwise indicated:

HSD Backdrops respects the intellectual-property rights of artists, designers, photographers, and other creators. We also take the protection of our own artwork, designs, photographs, written content, and other creative materials seriously.

This Copyright & Intellectual Property Notice explains how HSD Backdrops artwork and website content may and may not be used.

1. Ownership of HSD Backdrops Content

HSD Backdrops owns or licenses the copyright and other applicable rights in the protectable elements of the content displayed or sold through our website, including:

Physical backdrop artwork and designs
Digital backdrop artwork
Product previews and design mockups
Website photographs and graphics
Room-set arrangements and design presentations
Product descriptions and written website content
Videos, guides, blog posts, and instructional materials
Logos, branding, and promotional materials
The original selection, arrangement, editing, compositing, retouching, and presentation of our designs
Other original content created by or for HSD Backdrops

Some photographs, design elements, fonts, artwork, or other content may be licensed from third parties. Those materials remain protected by the rights of their respective owners and may not be copied or reused without permission.

Copyright protection applies whether or not an individual image or page displays a copyright symbol, watermark, ownership statement, or registration number.

2. Purchasing a Physical Backdrop Does Not Transfer Copyright

Purchasing an HSD Backdrops product gives you ownership of the individual physical backdrop that you purchased. It does not transfer ownership of the artwork, copyright, design file, or other intellectual-property rights embodied in that product.

Your purchase does not grant permission to:

Reproduce the design
Print additional copies
Create a digital version of the design
Create derivative backdrop artwork
Manufacture products featuring the design
License the design to another person or business
Distribute or sell the design as a digital file
Claim authorship or ownership of the artwork

All rights not expressly granted in this notice remain with HSD Backdrops or the applicable copyright owner.

3. Permitted Photography Use

The lawful owner of an original HSD Backdrops physical backdrop may use that backdrop in ordinary personal or professional photography sessions.

You may:

Photograph people, pets, products, or other subjects in front of the physical backdrop
Deliver finished photographs to your photography clients
Sell finished photographs created for your clients
Display finished photographs in your portfolio
Use your finished photographs to advertise photography sessions
Share your finished photographs on your website, social-media pages, printed marketing materials, or studio displays
Crop, retouch, or otherwise edit your completed session photographs as part of your normal photography workflow

This permission applies to finished photographs in which the backdrop is used as part of a photography setup. It does not permit the backdrop artwork to be isolated, extracted, recreated, or distributed as a separate design asset.

4. Prohibited Uses of Physical Backdrops

Unless you receive advance written permission from HSD Backdrops, you may not:

Photograph or scan a physical backdrop for the purpose of reproducing the artwork
Create a digital backdrop from a physical backdrop
Create stock art, stock photography, textures, templates, overlays, digital sets, or design assets from the backdrop
Remove a subject from a photograph and sell or distribute the remaining backdrop image as a digital background
Extract, trace, redraw, recreate, or digitally reconstruct the design
Print or manufacture additional copies of the design
Use the artwork on fabric, paper, signs, wall coverings, invitations, clothing, merchandise, or other products
Sell, license, share, upload, or distribute a digital copy of the design
Use the backdrop artwork to create a competing backdrop or photography product
Provide a reproduction of the artwork to a printer, manufacturer, designer, or third-party production company
Use the design for wholesale, white-label, private-label, or blind-shipping products
Claim that you created, designed, painted, photographed, or own the backdrop artwork

These restrictions apply whether the reproduction is exact, altered, cropped, recolored, mirrored, retouched, partially obscured, combined with other content, or recreated in another style.

5. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Image Tools

HSD Backdrops artwork, flat design previews, website images, digital files, and photographs or scans of our physical backdrops may not be uploaded to or used with artificial-intelligence systems for the purpose of:

Reproducing or reconstructing the artwork
Removing or extracting elements from the design
Creating a modified or derivative backdrop
Generating similar or competing backdrop artwork
Training or fine-tuning an artificial-intelligence model
Building an image dataset
Creating digital backgrounds, stock assets, templates, or commercial design elements

This restriction does not prevent a photographer from using ordinary editing tools on a completed client photograph when the backdrop remains part of the finished photography session image and is not being extracted or repurposed as a separate design asset.

6. Website Images, Design Previews, and Watermarks

HSD Backdrops uses watermarks on many design previews to protect our artwork from unauthorized copying and reproduction.

Watermarks do not grant permission to use the underlying artwork. Removing, covering, cropping out, obscuring, or digitally altering an HSD Backdrops watermark or copyright notice for the purpose of unauthorized use is prohibited.

You may share a direct link to an HSD Backdrops product page or use the built-in sharing tools available on our website or official social-media pages.

Unless written permission is provided, you may not:

Download and repost our flat design previews
Use our website images to advertise another company’s products
Use our design previews in your own product listings
Use our photographs to sell used backdrops
Copy our product images to another website, marketplace, group, or sales page
Remove our branding and represent an HSD image as your own
Use our images to advertise counterfeit or competing products

When reselling an original physical backdrop, please take your own photographs of the actual item being sold rather than copying images from the HSD Backdrops website.

7. Reselling an Original Physical Backdrop

You may sell, give away, or otherwise transfer ownership of the original physical backdrop that you lawfully purchased.

Reselling the original physical item does not transfer copyright ownership and does not grant the new owner permission to reproduce the design.

When reselling an HSD Backdrops product:

You may accurately identify it as an HSD Backdrops product.
You may use the design name to identify the physical item being sold.
You must photograph the actual physical backdrop for your resale listing.
You may not copy or use HSD Backdrops website images without written permission.
You may not imply that you are an authorized HSD Backdrops retailer, dealer, wholesaler, or representative.
You may not manufacture or sell additional copies of the design.

The new owner may use the original physical backdrop in ordinary photography sessions under the same permitted-use conditions described in this notice.

8. Digital Backdrops and Downloadable Products

Digital products are licensed, not sold outright. Purchasing a digital backdrop does not transfer copyright ownership.

Digital backdrops and other downloadable products are subject to the license included with the product and our separate Digital Backdrops Copyright Notice.

Unless a product license specifically states otherwise, digital files may not be:

Shared with another photographer or business
Resold or redistributed
Uploaded for public download
Included in templates or membership libraries
Used to create competing digital or physical backdrops
Transferred to a client
Used to create stock art or design assets
Printed for resale as a physical backdrop

Please review the complete digital-product license before purchasing or using a downloadable product.

9. In-Use Photography and Photographer Copyright

In-use photographs displayed on the HSD Backdrops website or social-media pages may be owned by the photographer who created them and used by HSD Backdrops with permission.

Those photographs may be separately protected by copyright and may not be copied, downloaded, edited, reposted, sold, or used for advertising without permission from the applicable copyright owner.

HSD Backdrops does not claim ownership of every photograph in which one of our backdrops appears.

When a photographer voluntarily submits photographs or videos to HSD Backdrops for a collaboration, product feature, review, contest, social-media post, website listing, or other promotional use, the applicable submission terms, collaboration agreement, or HSD Backdrops Terms & Conditions will govern our permission to use that content.

Photographer credit does not give another person permission to copy or reuse the photograph.

10. Customer-Submitted Artwork

Customers who submit their own artwork for custom printing retain the rights they own in that artwork.

By submitting a file for printing, the customer represents that they own the artwork or have permission from the copyright owner to reproduce it.

HSD Backdrops does not claim ownership of customer-supplied artwork merely because we print it. However, we may retain production records or temporary files as reasonably necessary to fulfill the order, provide customer service, maintain records, or address a dispute.

HSD Backdrops may decline any custom-printing request when we reasonably believe that the submitted artwork may infringe another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights.

11. Product Names, Branding, and Trademarks

The HSD Backdrops name, logos, branding, collection names, graphics, and other source-identifying materials may be protected by trademark, unfair-competition, or other applicable laws.

You may not use HSD Backdrops branding in a way that falsely suggests:

Sponsorship
Partnership
Authorization
Employment
Wholesale status
Dealership status
Endorsement
Affiliation with HSD Backdrops

Accurately identifying a lawfully purchased physical product as an HSD Backdrops product is permitted.

12. Requests for Permission

Written permission is required before using HSD Backdrops artwork, photographs, website content, or other protected materials in a manner not expressly permitted by this notice.

Permission requests should include:

Your full name
Your business or organization name
The specific design, image, or content you wish to use
A link or screenshot identifying the content
A complete explanation of the proposed use
Where the content will appear
Whether the proposed use is commercial
How long you wish to use the content

Permission is not granted unless HSD Backdrops provides express written approval. Silence, prior purchases, social-media tags, photographer credit, or the absence of a watermark do not constitute permission.

13. Reporting Suspected Copyright Infringement

To report suspected unauthorized copying or use of HSD Backdrops artwork, please email:

Please include:

A link to or identification of the original HSD Backdrops design
A link to the suspected unauthorized use
Screenshots showing the use
The name of the person, website, marketplace, or business involved
The date the unauthorized use was discovered
Any other information that may help us review the matter

Please do not contact or confront the suspected infringer on behalf of HSD Backdrops unless we specifically request that you do so.

If you believe content appearing on the HSD Backdrops website infringes a copyright that you own or are authorized to represent, please contact us with sufficient information to identify the copyrighted work, the allegedly infringing material, your contact information, and the basis for your claim.

14. Enforcement

HSD Backdrops reserves the right to investigate suspected unauthorized use of its artwork and other intellectual property.

Depending on the circumstances, we may:

Request that unauthorized content be removed
Submit takedown notices to websites, marketplaces, social-media platforms, hosting providers, or search engines
Report counterfeit or infringing products
Suspend or refuse customer accounts or future orders
Preserve relevant records and evidence
Seek compensation or other available legal remedies

An exception, informal resolution, or decision not to pursue one instance of unauthorized use does not waive our rights in another situation.

15. Legal Exceptions

Nothing in this notice is intended to restrict a use that is expressly permitted by applicable copyright law, including fair use or another statutory limitation.

Whether a particular use qualifies for a legal exception depends on the specific facts and circumstances. Crediting HSD Backdrops, making changes to an image, using only part of a design, or stating that no infringement was intended does not automatically make a use permissible.

When in doubt, please request written permission before using HSD Backdrops content.

If a product-specific license or written agreement contains different terms, the product-specific license or written agreement will control for that product or arrangement.
